Terms of Use
Last updated: 10 May 2026
1. Who this applies to
These terms apply to anyone using the Cartref website at cartref.app and any associated subdomains. By using the service you agree to be bound by these terms.
If you are using the service on behalf of a business (for example, an estate agency listing on Cartref), additional terms in the Agent Terms Schedule also apply.
2. What Cartref is
Cartref is an online property portal. We display listings supplied by estate agents and surface market data sourced from public records. We do not sell property and we are not party to any transaction between you and an agent or seller.
Listing information is supplied by the originating agent. We validate against Material Information Part A but the accuracy of the listing remains the responsibility of the listing agent.
3. Demo mode
During the demo phase, some listings shown on Cartref are synthetic: addresses have been shifted, prices are modelled from Land Registry data, and the agent is a placeholder. Synthetic listings are clearly labelled at the top of the listing page and on every card. Demo enquiries are not sent to any real agent.
4. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for any activity that occurs under your account.
We use magic-link authentication. We will never ask for a password by email.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to scrape, reverse-engineer, harvest, or mass-download our content without our express written permission. Agents wishing to syndicate or reuse listing data should contact us directly.
You agree not to use Cartref for unlawful purposes, to harass agents or other users, or to submit fraudulent enquiries.
6. Liability
Cartref is provided 'as is'. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that listing data will be accurate at any given moment.
Our total liability to you for any loss arising from your use of Cartref is limited to £100 in any 12-month period, except in cases of fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or where liability cannot be limited under English law.
7. Termination
You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or use the service in a way that puts the platform at risk.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
